Parenting with Joy:

Take Care of Your Child and Yourself

As a mom and former kindergarten teacher, I know how much love and energy it takes to raise a child. We all want the best for our little ones—finding the right pacifier, preparing healthy meals, and establishing good routines. But in the midst of caring for them, we often forget about ourselves.

Being a good parent doesn’t mean sacrificing your own well-being. In fact, one of the greatest gifts you can give your child is a happy, fulfilled parent. When we are well-rested and emotionally balanced, our children benefit from a positive atmosphere, feel more secure, and naturally behave better.

Parenting is not about constant self-sacrifice but about finding balance. Just like putting on your oxygen mask first on an airplane, taking care of yourself allows you to be fully present for your child. Rest matters—not just for your energy but for your patience and emotional stability. Finding moments of joy in your day, whether through hobbies, quiet time, or a simple walk, helps create a calmer, happier home. Your identity is not just “parent.” Pursuing passions and maintaining friendships enriches not only your life but your child’s as well.

This website is here to help with the practical aspects of parenting, from baby gear to healthy meals, but its greater mission is to support parents in raising children without losing themselves in the process. Parenting should be a journey filled with joy, not exhaustion. So take a deep breath, give yourself grace, and remember—you don’t have to choose between being a great parent and living a fulfilling life. You can have both, and your child will thrive because of it.
